VBS Volunteers

We love our volunteers and appreciate that God has placed it in their hearts to serve the children at Oakwood Baptist. If you are interested in serving in VBS, we have the following areas in which volunteers are needed.

  • Crew Leaders - Each group of elementary age children (Kindergarten- 5th grade) needs 1-2 adults to help facilitate discussion around the lessons that day and to engage the children in the activities. Youth are encouraged to assist adults in these roles.

  • Session Leaders/Teachers - There are many areas in which teachers are needed that include craft, bible lesson, science, games and snack. These teachers guide the entire group of children in a specific area of VBS.

  • Set Design/Decoration - Many hands are needed to prepare set decorations for the sanctuary and decorations for the building. This can include painting, building, and the decorating.

  • Snack Crew - Our kitchen works hard to prepare and serve fun and healthy snacks for our children that sometimes tie into that day's bible theme.

  • Tech Ministry - Sound, lighting and other visual production assistance during the opening and closing assemblies.

  • Hallway Monitor - Greet children and parents in the lobby and assist with ensuring children are supervised for bathroom breaks, etc

  • Opening and Closing Assembly Leaders  - Leaders on stage during the opening and closing assemblies to teach and interact with the children and Crew Leaders.
